Mr. MacMullin came to TCNJ in the fall of 2007 where he teaches:

Mr. MacMullin, a graduate of Temple University’s Esther Boyer School of Music, brings a unique perspective to his bassoon studio as he has studied with four generations of Philadelphia Orchestra bassoonists. Mr. MacMullin began his studies with Principal Second and Contra Ferdinand Del Negro, continued with Principal First Sol Schonebach, Assistant First John Shamlian, and completed his Bachelor and Master’s studies with internationally known and respected Principal First Bernard Garfield. Mr. MacMullin takes great pride in carrying on the Philadelphia tradition of bassoon performance and instruction. Mr. MacMullin’s students have attended many of the top music schools in the nation including The Curtis Institute, Julliard, Oberlin, Temple, Northwestern, Carnegie Mellon, Eastman, Ithaca and The College of New Jersey.

Mr. MacMullin has performed with the Orchestras of The College of New Jersey, Temple University, The University of Pennsylvania and West Chester University, the Woodbury Symphony, Haddonfield Symphony, Toms River Symphony, Reading Symphony, Temple University Summer Festival at Ambler, Orchestra Society of Philadelphia, Young Audiences, the Pittsburgh Symphony and the Philadelphia Orchestra.

An active guest conductor and clinician, Mr. MacMullin has adjudicated for The National Judges Association, DCI, WGI, DCA and other competitive venues. Conducting studies were with Lawrence Wagner, Jonathan Sternberg, Robert Paige, and William Smith. He has been guest conductor and clinician to numerous area ensembles.

Mr. MacMulliin recently completed a 34-year career at Eastern High School in Voorhees, NJ, where he served as Department Chair, Professional Development Specialist, and Director of Instrumental Music. Under his tenure the rich musical tradition of the school saw numerous successes in the school’s multi-faceted Instrumental and Advanced Placement programs.

An active boat enthusiast and fisherman, Mr. MacMullin spends long hours on the Barnegat Bay out of Long Beach Island. He is also a member of the “Dog Show World” as an active professional handler and breeder of Championship Rhodesian Ridgebacks and Dalmatians.
